Laurence Gartel created The First in the Nation State Art Car
The Franklin School District is excited to have unveiled the New Hampshire Art Car during National Arts in Education Week. Laurence Gartel, worked with students at Franklin High School who contributed to the creation of the first State Art Car. Marcia McCaffery, Art Consultant for the New Hampshire Department of Education stated, “The purpose of the Car was to offer students a program in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math).” “GARTEL fulfills every aspect of the STEAM.” He has been involved with Digital technologies for 40 years.” “Mr. Gartel’s work is worldwide and it was a true enrichment to have him sharing his expertise right here in Franklin,” stated Tamara Feener, Franklin School Board Program Specialist. Governor Maggie Hassan was there on Monday afternoon at the State House in Concord to commence the ceremonies. United States Governor , Jeanne Shaheen is also a supporter of the STEAM Program and offered some words for the First in the Nation N.H. State Art Car, "I am so pleased to hear about all the incredible work that has been done by students and community leaders to create this unique piece of art that highlights what is best about the City of Franklin." Franklin High School Students worked with Artist Laurence Gartel to learn how to design and make an Art Car. The car is owned and operated by The Town of Franklin School Board. You will see the car in future Parades, Fairs, and Community Events.
